ABOUT THE CONTEST
Do you have what it takes to become the next online Rock Star or DJ sensation? If so, this is your chance to demonstrate your musical chops in Camp Jam‘s “I’m In The Band” online music contest. This FREE, interactive online music contest gives you the opportunity to showcase your talent and compete online via YouTube, be heard by friends and family, receive feedback on your performance from some of the music industry’s top Rock Legends and Producers. Winners will be determined by talent and fan support.
Win a spot on Camp Jam’s first online all star band recording starring YOU and other contestant winners. Grammy Award winning producer Darryl Swann will mix the final performance tracks to create the ultimate online rock band collaboration. Finalists will receive prizes from Ableton, Line 6, Daddario, Evans, IK Multimedia (ie IK Multimedia iRig interface), Vocalize U and more! The Best Studio Musician Award will be the Grand Prize and will be awarded to 6 winners (1 from each category) and will include; a week at Camp Jam Overnight, plus gear from contest sponsors; Line 6, Audio Technica, Traps Drums, Dean Guitars, Ableton, IK Multimedia (ie IK Multimedia iRig interface), Daddario, Evans, Planet Waves and Fretlight guitars.
The contest and general video upload period has been EXTENDED TO MARCH 18. The competition is open to young musicians in 6 categories (guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocals, beat makers/DJ’s) between the ages of 9-17 of any experience level (ages 9 -12 must have parent approval).
WINNERS
6 winners will be announced (1 per category) March 22nd 2013 from the submitted finalist’s audio recordings. Winners will receive the Studio Musician Award that includes new music gear and other great prizes from Camp Jam and contest sponsors.
REGISTRATION: HOW TO GET STARTED
All steps listed below must take place during the contest period.
February 1st – February 28th 2013
Go to www.ableton.com/en/trial/ and download your free trial version of Ableton Live 8 download / Live 9 Standard. Ableton Trial downloads are available FEB 28 – MARCH 18 only. Any Trial downloads prior to Feb 18 will expire and can not be downloaded again. We’ve also put together a pdf with step by step screen shots that can be downloaded here.
After your trial download revisit this page and click on the Contest Song Download button below. Follow the instructions on how to download the contest song “Come Together” as a Ableton Live set. Tracks will be individually labeled on the simplified mixer for easy play and record.
Practice by playing along with the track through your stereo speakers. Mute the track of the instrument you are replacing. (Jam karaoke style). Practice until you are performance ready!
Tips:

- Listen to each part individually
- How can you compliment the song?
- Be creative
- Show your initiative and make the song your own
Video Record yourself rocking out to the entire song with your smart phone or digital camcorder.
Set up a YouTube account and upload the video to your YouTube channel.
Register your video and officially enter the contest between February 1st and February 28th, 2013. All contestants must agree to the contest rules. After completing the above steps Camp Jam will upload your video to the camps YouTube channel.
Share your video. Encourage friends, family and fans to give you positive feedback by using all of the rating tools available on YouTube, including: like; star ratings, video responses number of views and the comments section. Very Important: Get all your friends to “Like” Camp Jam and post their comments on your performance on the Camp Jam Facebook page. Talent, originality and fan support will determine the 18 finalists.

Camp Jam and celebrity judges will choose 3 finalists from each category on March 25th 2013. You will be judged on musical talent, song interpretation, creativity and your ability to build a fan base.
Finalists will move on to compete in the audio recording phase of the contest. Good Luck!

FINALISTS CONTEST PRIZES
Giveaways: Contest judges will award a number of prizes and sponsor swag items during the video upload period from February 1st (original start date) – March 18th, 2013.(extended date)
Finalists: 18 finalists (3 winners from each of the 6 musical categories above) will be chosen from the video uploads based on overall talent, originality and fan support (comments, views). Finalists will automatically be entered in to the audio recording finals and will receive the following gear to record themselves via laptop or desktop computer. For more information on computer requirements go to FAQ (coming soon).

All finalists will receive a prize package tailored to your instrument from Daddario, Planet Waves, Evans and ProMark. Strings, picks, heads, books, straps, cables and more!!
Finalists will be instructed on how to record their performance using the above interfaces (provided) see FAQ’s. If preferred, finalists may choose to use any audio interface that they may own or have access to.
Tracks are to be emailed to imintheband@campjam.com. (Instructions will be provided) Track entries will be accepted March 8 – March 18th. No tracks will be accepted after midnight, March 18th.
